How to make your website earn money instead of eat money.

The first two years of having a website it EAT any profits I received from
my consulting and Professional Organizing business. I didn't know I
needed keywords, links, limited images, and many other things, let alone
on how to figure out which ones were the best to use. If you have a web
site, I have two questions for you -- did you expect much higher profits
than what you’re getting? Do you have the "If I Build It They Will Come"
mentality?

Recently, an associate of mine that is going to college for a degree in
Internet Marketing (Ecommerce) asked me, "Why are you and others
making strong passive incomes from your sites-- but not me? I'm going to
college for this and my site still isn't getting any traffic or generating any

Let me tell you a common story that's happened to me, my mentor, and
I'm sure others just starting out.

First I personally use to be very tight with my money that I REFUSED to
purchase anything regarding my web site, thinking, "I can find
information somewhere or from somebody for FREE or study on my own.
Then one day my organizing client, now my mentor was teaching me
about statistics of one's web site, how to check them, the best program to
use, the importance of you statistics, and what everything means, blah,
blah, blah. I knew a little about statistics then but didn't really pay any
attention, thinking of them as unimportant until he told me his story and I
saw myself, the same thing was happening to me:

My Mentor, Tom Antion's story: "My web host guy said to me one day,
"Tom, the statistics on your website look pretty bad." I said, "What
statistics?" I didn't even know there was such a thing. He showed me that
only 400 people had visited my website in two years. OUCH! It's pretty
hard to create wild and outrageous success on 400 casual visitors to a

Tom started to take action because someone explained to him the who's,
what's, when's, where's, and why's of a good statistics package, and then I
started paying attention to what he was telling me and implementing some

amount of other marketing tricks to drive traffic you can have any fancy
money down the drain stuff you want on your site.

If you want to make money though, you want to keep it simple and
put lots of effort into the sales process rather than the fancy looks.

Don't take advice from people driving broken down cars
One of the worst problems you will encounter when trying to learn to
market on the Internet is people giving you advice who never made a
nickel on the Internet.

I run into this all the time. Some webmaster who has no clue how to sell
anything on the net (except a lot of worthless fancy website services) tries
to tell you and me that something won't work. I started learning my
Internet Marketing techniques from a guy that is now an E-Millionaire
from his Internet businesses and many others that are really making
money on the Internet. Now I'm on the same journey of making big money
